Inheritance is a powerful topic that is strongly related to society, law, and religion. This topic has been widely discussed and analyzed by different social and Islamic scientists. The purpose of this paper is to tackle the importance of this subject. The aim is to show how far the issue of in-heritance has been implemented or overlooked in the city and the district of Erbil. It is investigat-ing how society, families, tribes approach this topic. An introduction to the topic has been given with an explanation of inheritance in the Islamic religion. The investigation involves interviews to a number of people from both genders. They belong to different social and educational back-grounds, different families and tribes. Conclusions are driven depending on the results of the investigation.
