Effectiveness of Vee-Mapping Strategy on the Ninth Grade Female Students' Achievement in Chemistry


The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching the subjects of "Metal Activity" unit in chemistry using Vee- mapping strategy on the achievement of the ninth grade female students. The study sample consisted of (60) ninth grade students in the public schools of Irbid Directorate of Education, Northern of Jordan. The sample of the study was randomly distributed into two groups: an experimental group consisting of (30) students who were taught by Vee-mapping strategy, and a control group of (30) students taught by an ordinary method. A detailed guide was prepared to describe the procedures of teaching "Metal Activity" subjects using Vee-mapping strategy, which links between the practical and theoretical knowledge in a clear and simple way. Moreover, a multiple choice test with (20) questions was prepared to collect the data of students' achievement. The results of the study indicated statistically significant differences at (α=0.05) in the students' achievement, in favor of the experimental group students who were taught by Vee-mapping strategy. Based on the study results, the researchers recommended the using of Vee-mapping strategy in curricula, training teachers how to use it, and integrating Vee-mapping strategy in the teacher guide.
